Dear friend

Oh Bruce, so sad to read your news.

From the beginning of your story here on TP, your eloquence made me feel that I knew Jan, and what a privilege that has been.

Your life together, in spite of the difficulties brought about by Jan's illness, has been an inspiration to me and many others.

Sending my love and sympathy to you and the family at this sad time. Connie x

Dearest Bruce,
I was so shocked and saddened to hear Jan had passed away. I had thought that I would meet Jan the next time I was in the UK. I thought she would go on for a longer time.

These lines from the poem High Flight feel appropriate -

I have slipped the surly bonds of earth......

......put out my hand and touched the face of God.

Deepest sympathies from Rudi and I to you, Nina and your family.

Much love,

Although I wanted to have dementia or Alzheimer's stated as the cause of My Jan's passing, I didn't need to ask the doctor for this, she simply wrote it, as is:

Bruce, I am so very sorry to read of Jan's passing.
She fought a good fight Bruce, with as you said with grace and dignity.

" Those who live in our hearts never truly die."

Normally so hard to achieve. I am so pleased for you, and the thinking that went with it.

I am truly saddened to hear about your loss Bruce.

It has been a very long haul for you which you have met with determination and forbearance.

I hope that you can find some comfort in the knowledge that you did your best for her and gave unstintingly of your time and love.

It was strange, making the 50 mile journey to Jan's home yesterday, knowing she was no longer there.

It was sad to see her chair, empty now, outside her room.

All arrangements are now in hand, and Jan's funeral service will be at 1.15 on 2nd September.

Thanks everyone, for your support right now, and always.

Dear Bruce,

The picture of Jan's empty chair had such a powerful impact of emptiness. I do feel so much for your loss.
