Worried about my neighbour. He lives by himself, was widowed years ago, retired a couple of years ago, has 1 son who lives hours away and who has not seen his Dad for 6 months now. The gentleman seems to have gone downhill lately. He doesn't talk to anybody and won't accept help. His driving is getting so bad, it is worrying. He goes to the supermarket once a day but us neighbours are worried and we do not know if/how to approach him about this. He is getting more dazed/confused. We are worried that he might have an accident, which we would feel guilty about if we haven't said anything. Not sure if it is our responsibilty or not, or if we should try to contact his son. Any advise please?

With regards to your neighbour appearing more dazed/confused, please contact his son as he may have a health issue that needs looking at.

At the moment councils are supposed to be on the look out for people who are struggling in the current situation so they can support them. I guess how well that’s working depends on the council, but maybe worth flagging it up to them. The contact details should be on their website.
We have contacted the son with our concerns and have tried to persuade him to go to his GP. Have also made the Council aware as he is vulnerable. Many thanks for your help.
