Congratulations Hazel,
When a Carer is pushed in to a corner (no pun intended), then God help them.

So happy to read something positive about John.
What you are doing is for AD/Dementia everwhere.

A wee drum, I would buy you a bottle.

Love and best wishes to you and John.

A dram becomes a drum ...

Dear Hazel,

So far we have turned a wee dram into a wee drum! And the night is still young.

So, if you're feeling up for it, Hazel, .... then a fair few of us out here would be more than willing to share the drum with you.

And I'll bring a few drummers to help us all on the way.

Yippeee!!! as I may have said once or thrice before!

So, with Christine's help, we'll achieve it, by hook or by crook!

Love
Katie

,
Much better thank you, having slept for 10 hours last night in addition to sleeping best part of the day.

He went for a diabetic blood test today and I asked for a haemoglobin test at the same time. If he is not anaemic, this tiredness might well be a progression of AD.
Love xx

Glad Dhiren's better today, Sylvia.

I suppose it would be better if they find something wrong, at least it might be treatable. I hope so.

John's new treatment is pb7 viscopaste -- it's a zinc oxide dressing. The DN was not impressed with the honey cream. I'm still giving him Manuka orally, though, I'm sure it's helping.

That was a good post Lemiserable.

Puts me in mind of some graffiti I saw which went as follows:-

God is black. (underneath)

O no he isn't (underneath)

O yes she is.

Dear Hazel,

Pleased to read that John is improving hopefully it's plain sailing ahead.

Hazel, truly your devotion to John is inspirational!

You deserve some respite from all this trauma so hopefully John's continual improvement will be your respite.

Best Wishes, Love Taffy.

Hazel, truly your devotion to John is inspirational!

Taffy, I am, utterly, utterly devoted to John. How could I not be?

Potted biog.

My first husband died when I was 42. Four months later my beautiful 18 year old daughter died. I tried to go back to the job I loved, but couldn't cope with the stress and had to retire.

So at 42 I had nothing. My son was away at uni and as traumatised as I was. My parents were elderly, and my father very sick. I had no job apart from spells of supply teaching, which I hated.

I spent 14 years living on a small pension, caring for my parents, doing lots of voluntary work, and surviving.

Then I met my lovely John, and the sun came out again. Quite simply, he gave me my life back.

He is everything to me. He doesn't deserve this illness (who does?) But anything I can do to make his last days as peaceful and as comfortable as possible will be done. No choice!

Love,

Your story puts me in mind of that old adage "It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all". I am so glad that you had John to share your sun and moon and stars with and that he is getting a bit better so that you can hopefully spend more pleasant times in the days and months to come.

With dementia it is about fighting for care to provide quality of life to our loved ones and you are doing a sterling job to ensure that John (and others) get's the best quality of life that he (they) can.

For that I applaud you.

(((((((((hugs))))))))))

Love

Glad to read better news about John. :)

District nurses are clearly like buses, i.e. you wait ages one for and then two come along at once...

Dear Hazel,
Lovely to read your biog. Yes, the sun does come out when we meet our soulmate, doesn't it?

Glad to hear that John is improving. There's a lot of fight left in him too.
