Ruth was given a rousing send-off yesterday. She came to the church the day before to lay overnight in the church where she was churchwarden and which she loved so much. A short service was held as she arrived with just myself and my son's present.
At her service yesterday I recited the words (6 pages) I had been writing in my mind for years. The church was packed with friends that had known and loved her when she was well and with those that only came to know her after this insiduous disease took hold of her.
When I start to feel sad I remember how she choked on her food and had had every capacity removed from her. Knowing that she is no longer suffering and is at peace is keeping my sons and I strong.

Afghan,
So pleased that yesterday was right for you and your sons, and that you are able to find some peace.
With love, Helen
