The highlight of my day yesterday was when, after hours of saying that she had to go home because her husband was expecting her, my wife came in from another room and gave me a hug saying how nice it was to be back home with me!

Derek - that was a lovely post- :D.
Weeze congrats on you expecting a girl- I had a girl last November having already got 2 boys,15 and 10 from a previous marriage. Ian and I decided to wait to find out when baby was born as to what it was! You realise that as the due date gets nearer we are going to be on tender hooks waiting:D:D

Julie and Ian

No more babies for us at 44 next month I think I will be pushing my luck!!

mum-in-laws laughter

Just thought I'd share a great moment we have just had with my mil. she has had a good day and eaten well yipee!!!! she just informed me she was very tired and would like to go to bed so i got everything ready as normal and helped her up to her frame, her son took over and as she moved she rolled the frame over his foot, he of course pretended it really hurt and hopped around. she laughed so hard she had to sit back down and then told him he should of got out of the way.
oh how these little moments make it all worthwhile.

Can I share the laugh me and mum and eldest just had ?

My eldest son asked gramma if she wanted to watch a DVD with him ,so we were going through the DVD collection to see what she wanted to see ,when we came across Chitty Chitty bang
"Ohhh Yes She said ,I like Sh**ty Sh**ty bang bang " Well my son and I looked at each other and burst out laughing and I proceded to sing the first verse of 'Sh**ty sh**ty bang bang ' at which point my mum was having fits of laughing so hard we only just got her to the loo on time ....... I wasnt far behind either

Last week I visited my father, who is 80 tomorrow. When I was leaving he stood there in the corridor of the nursing home, an absolute physical wreck, hair and clothes all over the place, and he said "tell your mother I haven't been with any other women !". I just thought it rather wonderful that he still thinks he would be in with a chance....

Then 2 days ago he was whispering in the ear of the pretty nurse next to him. Mum was there, and was trying to find out what he was saying. It turned out he was telling the nurse that he wanted to ask mum to marry him ! She was very touched to be asked again after 50 years of marriage, and amazed that it was her he was proposing to not the nurse !

The good bits are few and far between these days and need hanging on to.

That made me smile. With an attitude like that, he should be in with a chance.

My highlight of the day is a bit silly but I leave for England next week Thursday!! 10 more sleeps to go! :D:D

Yipee! I got my car back last night:) I've been without it for almost 3 weeks, which means hubby has been without his car for the same amount of time as I have had to hijack it to get to work and visit mum. New gearbox, new clutch and the best bit is that the gearbox has been replaced under warranty because something broke in it so it counts as a mechanical failure. Of course the warranty people wouldn't take the word of the gearbox specialist and sent an inspector to look at it which, of course, delayed the return of the car.:( And if the actual physical repair time is less than 8 hours they won't cough up for a hire car so I couldn't risk renting one and then having to pay for it myself. Never mind, the car is now running really smoothly and hopefully I'll start getting 60+ mpg out of it again.

My husband is completely fine

It started with chest pain a week and a half ago. But after an ECG, tons of blood tests and two cardiac stress tests, Rudi's heart is completely fine and no heart condition whatsoever. We spent the day at the hospital yesterday for the final test.

Everything is good and life is wonderful.

When is the TV not the TV?

Answer: When it's the serving hatch:D:D

There was mum, TV remote in hand, standing in the middle of the room pressing buttons furiously and wondering why on earth the news wasn't on.
Well a serving hatch is an oblong shape and it's a nice bright sort of object when the kitchen light is on so I suppose it could look like a TV. Even mum managed to smile at that one.

Highlight of my day

Many of you may remember me mentioned about my 15 year old Grandaughter Lauren.

Well she has been trained to sing classic - can reach top "C" which did not mean a thing to her Mum but I was so proud, especially when she appeared in Joseph.

This evening Lauren, as soon as she could walk, o.k. so I taught her, rock & roll, dancing to music but I have had a phone call to tell me she is appearing in a dance dvd.

As Carers' we may not have a lot to make our day but this evening, I am one very proud Grandmother.

friends

Sitting quietly, just me and the cat, looking at the news paper, ring on the door bell.
Standing on the step one of Peg's ex carers.
She came and said "I will come straight to the point,Rano,Jas and myself have been thinking about you,and we want to take you out one evening."
What could I say?
So next Tuesday evening I am going out with 3 charming sikh ladies.
Don't know where to ,who cares, but how kind.
I really shoudn't be suprised ,they were angels to my Peg.

PS. would this qualify for above the call of duty?
