What do you do to cope with the worry?

Everyone is different and what works for one may not work for another.

In my case I found that it became less stressful once I had accepted that I was no longer “just popping in to mum’s” (to give my old mum a bit of help), and was now in charge of Caring for a person with AD.

My personality allowed me to cope by taking a step back and basically setting up a little business (with me as Chairman as well as worker) to look after mum (rather than doing the Caring because of Love or Duty).

I scheduled everything from paid for Carers, to Day Care, to Hospital visits, to when I would be at mum’s house doing the Caring… and when I was off duty and going to the Gym, and when the car was in for service. Also banking and Benefits, and NHS CC and “educational time” using Google and TP to learn more about AD.

Possible it would not help everyone, but I found it helped me to have a mapped out, scheduled, structure to my week, (though I also kept my overnight bag in the car for the unplanned emergency).

Best wishes
