and its working out great! Our mother is sleeping well, less agitated, doesnt wander as much at night anymore-when she does, she tires herself out alot more quickly, shes more steady on her feet and doesnt have that dazed look in the morning from tablets.

We dont want to get our hopes up as it could all change again quickly but we are happy we tried it. The smile on her face the first night we gave her the hot whiskey before bed!! Its something we used to have before bed years ago. Small bit of comfort during this hideous disease.

Over the last month, maybe more, shes been staying awake up to 38 hours, agitated, dazed etc. The consultants answer was to double sleeping tablets. We had reached rock bottom and so I had an emotional chat with GP and said we would love to try a hot whisky liek years ago. She said yes, that sleeping tablets can have opposite effect for some people.Unlike the consultant, she listened to us and it has helped bring a bit of comfort to my mother and to us.

Sedatives is the easy option and they need to consider the patient-weight, size etc.Our mother was so drowsy on that while walking around at night, when we were trying to take her to toilet, back to bed etc. It wasnt a safe enviroment at all.She was going to fall if we didnt change things.
