We want to have a bed downstairs, as it seems my father in law doesn't qualify for a bed.
On Friday we're meeting with the OT, so hopefully we can discuss it.
We have put in camera's so we know what he's doing when we are not there, and we feel it would benefit him.
Has anyone had this problem, does anyone have any tips/addresses for hiring/buying a bed.
Any help would be great.

Hello @Peterb1958 welcome, you will find lots of friendly advice and support here. The OT will advise you of the type of bed required, and I know that they can also in some circumstances provide a bed too but this doesn't seem to apply to your father in law. I don't have personal experience of buying/hiring a specialist bed but I'm sure other members who do will be along soon.

If I were buying one then I would make sure I got one that could be tilted so the persons head is below their feet.
That way if you have to do personal care single handed you can roll the person from side to side and their body moves up the bed without the use of slide sheets.

Also if you look on EBay, there is a bed for every budget!
I used ‘hospital bed’ as a search title.

Hi I have just looked on eBay, this looks like the way to go, we are meeting the Parkinson's nurse on Wednesday.
Depending on how that goes, I'll be sorting out a bed.
As we'll be able to look after him, so far we have done a good job.
But no one knows what can happen in the future.
