My husband is in hospital waiting for a care home. He needs a home with special needs. Does anyone know if they take all my husbands private pension. We will not be self funding.

hi @Optomistic
have a look at this page from the main AS site, under PEA
https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/get-support/legal-financial/care-home-fees

as I understand it, if your husband's savings are below the lower threahold, the LA fund the care fees but take your husband's state pension and half any privare pension, and Attendance Allowance stops, leaving him only the PEA

I believe they do need to consider the situation for the spouse, but it may be worth looking into any benefits you may qualify for

I am in a similar position. You could ring Age Uk national not local office. One is triaged then given access to expert who can explain the part of income can be given on top of statutory. You need to explain your exact circumstances.
