Social Work have agreed to pay for the care home I have chosen when a place comes up. I cannot tell you how much of a relief that is. Mums new social worker really seems to know what she is doing unlike many of the others I have dealt with in the past. I put Mums name on the waiting list two months ago despite the old social worker telling me I couldn't. This was a lie that apparently quite a few people around here have been told so sw have more power over allocation.
Having visited several local homes the difference between them is shocking. It was one of the bad ones that cemented my decision. Mums mobility has deteriorated and what I dread is a fall followed by hospital, followed by a move to the care home that doesn't have a waiting list.
Of course nothing has actually happened yet and possibly won't for several months but I'm glad I visited so many before her actual assessment and I'm also glad I didn't listen to misinformation.
