My 92 year old Dad has Alzheimer's and final stage kidney failure, amongst other conditions. He is in a nursing home and I go 3 X a week. He has leg pain and we have increased pain meds from just paracetamol to add codeine as well. He has just had a step down and having to use hoist to xfer from wheelchair. His eating is declining although he will have puddings. I feel as though he has given up - the other day when carer was dressing him in bed he found it very uncomfortable and he was ready to go. He's half blind and I think his eyesight worsening - the other day carers had to feed him. I'm unsure how aware he is of this latest decline and he is such a proud and dignified man. Some days I think it would be merciful if he went and others I hope the old Dad would come back.

I really feel for you and your dad. It's so upsetting to see the deterioration in the ones we love. I hope, as you do, that our dads are,at least, unaware of their increasing frailty. :-( Stay strong. ❤️️X
