It's a register to get you extra support during a potential power cut if you're in London, the East or South East.

I registered online and they were very attentive and helpful when they phoned back.

It may vary by area but in mine a nominated contact can be registered.

After registration they contact you to organise a password.
Izzy said she can also register with the gas supplier, I can do this and the water supplier as well.

We had new plastic gas mains pulled through the old cat iron ones and the contractors where brilliant, they plated over the excavation to allow easy access/egress and sorted us out before others.
