A recent case here, where because of probate delays in her husband's estate, she was short of funds to pay her Nursing Home fees. She is a "Ward of Court", which is the Irish equivalent of your Court of protection, and in this case, a Solicitor seems to have been appointed to oversee her affairs.

Note that where it says her "care costs" were in the region of €340 a week, that doesn't mean that that's the complete cost! The system here would be that, after Assessments etc., the State would fund the rest of the cost, and obviously, the woman's own contribution to the costs was assessed at around €340 per week. Nursing homes here average out at anywhere from €900 to €1,500 per week.
