Hi

We are having problems continuing to pay the third party top up fees for mum's care home due to financial problems arising.

Mum is LA funded in nursing dementia but failed to get CHC funding. We now find ourselves in a position where we can no longer afford this home but it the best option for her challenging behavioural issues.

Does anyone know where we would stand on keeping her at this home. I have been advised to get a "needs assessment" carried out.

Any advice would be gladly appreciated right now. We are very worried and stressed.

Thank you.

Hello, did you find out the answer to your question? I'm no expert in top up fees but I was under the impression that if you couldn't or didn't want to pay them then you don't have to. Have you a social worker you could speak to? Or try the Alzheimer's Society helpline. I'm sure they'd be able to give you some good advice xx
