Betty is sitting in her office.
There is a knock on the door, Maria comes in.

Maria: Betty can I talk to you?
Betty: Yes, of course you can. Is there something wrong?
Maria: Well, the problem is that I am supposed to be giving Barbara her bath today, but I don't want to do it.
Betty: I see. Why?
Maria: Well, all the other staff say that they think Betty is lesbian and I think she looks at me like THAT sometimes.
I don't like that sort of thing and I don't like the thought that when she is ready for her bath she might attack me. So if you don't mind I would like someone else to bath Barbara

Roger, I realise that you may be particularly sensitive to this sort of issue, but to me (admittedly from someone who has little experience of discrimination) this comes across as someone very thick (Maria) being EXTREMELY stupid!

"all the other staff say that ... ... and I think she ... ..." - to me shows someone incapable of thinking for themselves, adopting gossip & other people's prejudices.

I'm sorry it hurt you.
