Hi
Does anyone know my rights in challenging the hospitals choice of nursing home for my mother.
We have been advised that my mother needs to go to a nursing home after 3 months in hospital - she has vascular dementia and Alzheimer's. The family have researched and visited a fair number of homes, but the one we prioritised has no bed vacancies currently, although my mother is top of the waiting list. The hospital told us they will place my mother if we do not come up with a temporary alternative. Due to where my father lives the options are limited, and we were not happy with what was on offer. Do we have any rights to appeal against where the hospital will choose to place my mother if we can not find an alternative in time.
Thanks.

Basically, 13 weeks is your lot. I doubt you'll swing it much longer, your choice of 'ideal' or not. They wont keep someone fo longer than they need, if she's fit for discharge you prob wont have much choice in the matter.
