How can one persons energy consumption increase by £350 per month? thats hideous amount.
Have you challenged them?
People with oil fired /solid fuel central heating wont get it either, nor those on Bottled gas
here are a few benefits care home residents cn claim - are they claiming everything they should.
My partner is disabled, so we live in a 3bed bungalow. It has a bigger footprint than our neighbours 4 bed house. we are an E for council tax, they are a D . They got a rebate we didnt. Unfair.
Should someone in a one bed flat get the same £400 as someone living in a 4 bed detached? Seemingly so.
The letter from the home states the increase is partially due to inflation, unexpected costs such as huge increase in cost and usage of PPE, specialist cleaning equipment and materials, minimum 5% increase in staff pay, price increases in food, drinks, cleaning and laundry products, day care, gas and electric. Care homes are businesses after all I guess. Went up last year to £990 per week and now to £1075 per week. What do you do though? It's not my money it's mums so do families make a fuss when prices increase? We aren't accountants so I guess we just have to bite the bullet. Mum gets attendance allowance but that's it.
My gas and electric was £100 for this month "but" I used 193 units of electric compared to 354 this time last year and 10 units of gas compared to 46 so my bill was cheaper last year despite using a lot more then., So I can imagine care homes use an incredible amount with cooking, washing and heating for over 30 residents, and of course they are kept warm. I would probably be more horrified if mum was dressed in a coat and a woolly hat with the place freezing! I've written to Rishi Sunak but won't hold my breath for a reply!
Re you not getting a rebate it's worth contacting your council as some are doing local schemes for some outside the A-D bands but it's not been advertised nationally so it's worth asking.
