it is such a shame that today is the day you have to send that message.
i totally agree with you, before my mom had alzheimers, my grandad had it, and we also decided not to see him in hospital, my nan (his wife) was there, which was her choice. but i feel no guilt in not going. i am glad i can remember the happy smiling face of my grandad rather than the withdrawn skeletal one he had in the end.
people will have different opinions, i am sure, about how you choose to do this. my advice is to not let anyones opinions affect the way you feel about your actions. there are no right and wrong ways to deal with this.

As a newbie to the forum, I am so saddened to hear your news but, in a way, i feel very honored that you are sharing your feelings/news with me/us.
