Does anyone have experience of surgery worsening the symptoms of Dementia. It has been recommended that I have surgery to repair a prolapse but I remember a member of my Quaker Meeting having surgery and the deterioration in her memory afterwards was frightening.

It's the anaesthetics that can do that. Sometimes it's temporary, sometimes it's permanent. I guess it's a question in weighing up the options and how important this surgery is for your well-being. Speak to your consultant. He is responsible for dealing with all your questions and concerns.

I'm not a doctor and can only speak from experience. I am having my 3rd abdominal surgery in 18 months on January 28th, 6th surgeries total. SoMetimes I come out a bit confused and it takes time to come around.... But other times ok.

Hope all goes well for you
