So, what’s my Pauline been up to today?

I’m so sorry to hear this @Agzy. So worrying and distressing. I hope that things settle down for Pauline now. If you are still worried I would see if the doctor would check her over. My mum used to seem to decline overnight but she had Vascular Dementia and was subject to TIAs which always left her a little worse than before.
A close friend had vascular and so remember how almost every TIA changed him and sort of expected whereas with this the changes have no rhyme or reason of course and may be permanent or not. Pauline is now quite and exhausted and of course the issue has faded for her while I pull up my socks as they say and get on with it, thank you @Izzy

I'm so sorry to hear this @Agzy. It might be worth getting Pauline checked out for a UTI just in case there are no obvious symptoms, however it could be a down turn.
Is there anyway you can arrange for someone to come in to keep Pauline company when you go out? It sounds losing any sense of time so feeling very confused when you aren't there to guide her.

As she has been complaining about her back hurting when we go on ‘her’ walk I have arranged an appointment and hope to be able to mention the reoccurrence of UTIs and possibly trigger something positive, thank you x

Pauline has been back to almost normal other than complains of her back hurting when out walking

Pauline has been back to normal other than complains of her back hurting when out walking so, first thing Monday I contacted her surgery and got an appointment for this morning to see same GP who made the home visit 2 years ago before she was hospitalised. After examining her he prescribed Nopraxen and Omprozole and offered an appointment for this Friday to see specialist!! He also suggested she should do a dip test to just rule out UTI although no symptoms, which she did as we left.
A couple of hours later a nurse phoned to say she has a very severe UTI but cant pick up antibiotics until the morning (long story).

More complication regarding possible move into a sheltered flat in that Pauline absolutely doesn’t want to move and I have meeting today with housing association regarding rent etc. There is also a possibility that we can have a conversion for downstairs loo which will make the decision harder. Added to that I am invited to my grandsons wedding in Midlands meaning overnight in July which would be moving date/time if move goes ahead and couldnt leave her on her own in new dwelling! Talk about a merry go round!

@jennifer1967, yes I can move in once 1st months rent is paid but dont have to so yes I would delay moving in as long as there is no option of staying where we are. The whole issue is in turmoil and it may well be that given her decline which is very noticeable she may need placing in care home within a year or two leaving me in a 3 bedroom flat in the sky; not something I fancy to be honest.

We had an appointment with a physio yesterday to examine her back and he say it is through muscle weakness and had her doing excersises and she was happy to do so. This morning she refuses to do them as they hurt but at least we know why she has it.

Oh dear! This doesn't`t sound good. Is there any way you can stay where you are @Agzy?

It is beginning to sound that having a downstairs loo if possible might be the best option. It would mean disruption, but would mean you would be able to stay in a place you obviously love for longer.
Our house was extended before we moved here. I m puzzled as to why they put in a large downstairs loo with a shower rather than a smaller loo and a utility room but I can see it could be a godsend if either of us can no longer get upstairs.

@Grannie G and @Sarasa this morning bringing P back from chiropodist we drove past the flats and meantioned moving and the views etc waxing lyrical and once home her first comment was, “there’s nowhere to hang my washing so I’m not (various expletives) living there. Later my youngest daughter phoned and told that her husband, a double glazing fitter, suggested a conservatory utility/shower/toilet room using rear lounge window as french windows access so hoping he is going to visit as might be cheaper than a brick extension. Didn’t have this much trauma from both my marriages and divorces!! Combined ?

these things matter and washing line is in important. is there a balcony that you could put a rotary line on? the flats behind me have a line that latches on the balcony or even a simple airer could go out there.

I feel your pain @Agzy . It is so frustrating.
My father needs a pacemaker, needs it urgently, which should tell you all you need to know.
But no, he's had a letter from the hospital saying he will need to self isolate, and that is totally over the top (in his view) so he now does not want the pacemaker.
Counting to ten slowly and hoping I can get him through this......

I lived in a flat for six years and the one thing I really missed was a back door leading out to my own space Even if it had been a yard I could have prettied it up with a few plants and yes, there would have been somewhere to hang the washing

I do hope you can get an extension you can afford @Agzy. It will save so much confusion for Pauline and enable you to stay in the home you obviously prefer

Just to add to stress and on last day of present course of antibiotics and yes, another one! Took sample to surgery again and nurse phoned to say a GP will phone us sometime today but getting late so maybe tomorrow. As well as that the housing association phoned to say we can view on Friday morning and hopefully she will like what she sees and yes I will take her on the balcony and look at washing line options. Regarding the UTI she woke me at 2am for the first time ever to say she had one and was in agony which really worried me but now even though nurse said another bad one she has no noticeable symptoms, weird.

@Agzy, I think i read elesewhere of someone who had frequent UTIs, and had a continual low-level antibiotic to combat this, rather than the constant to and fro of treating individual infections. Not sure if that might help?
I hope the viewing goes well on Friday.

Thank you @Helly68 up to hospitalisation and then pandemic she was on permanent antibiotic as you suggest but the changed it but never explain why and now wait for what seems like monthly merry go round of testing and prescribing. Made worse of course because I don’t always know she has an infection x
