Hi

This is a bit of a sensitive subject and so sorry if it's difficult for anyone to read but I really want to share this with people who's relative is in a home and at end of life.

Our mum passed away 8 weeks ago and we were unaware she was subject to a DoLS (deprivation of liberty ) and that her death would automatically be referred to the coroner. This can delay the funeral and would have if we hadn't got our local councillor involved. We even had to attend the inquest and answer questions despite there being no problems/suspicions arpund her death.

The details of our story are on the other thread (after loss) if you want to read.

I just wish we had known all this so wanted to share with people. It was very stressful.

Many residents in nursing homes are on the DoLS register so it's possible your relative is and you aren't aware. Apparently we were told but if we were, it's irrelevant as we definitely didn't know about the coroner until after mum passed.
