Hi, My parent has suddenly started screwing one eye up today, doesn't seem to be in discommfort but is screwing one eye up and having very long blinks.
Is this just another part of dementia ( they have Alzheimers and Vascular) or should I see the GP?

Hi @Its2022! and welcome to Talking Point.

Are they able to say if anything is wrong?
This isnt generally a dementia thing that Im aware of. Im wondering whether they are getting double vision and that is why they are screwing up one eye.

I would get them checked out if it persists. My OH started screwing his eyes up for no apparent reason and it lead to entropion where the eye lashes turn inwards and I now have to tape his lower eye down lid to prevent it. He was prescribed eye drops which help.

might be worth the optician as they are specialists with eyes. my husband has a small cataract on his left eye and screws that up as he says its sore. their lights are stronger.
