    It’s definitely a mental illness - which is why we can claim Council,Tax discount but mental health services fought this definition for years as I believe it they did. It want their services to be overwhelmed by people with dementia which as someone else pointed out they could not treat. There are “services for elderly mentally ill” for people who are really really hard to manage but otherwise social and health care just play ping pong over who should be paying. Good for the AS for campaigning for a separate budget for dementia care as lots of families get stuck while local service argue the toss of per who should be paying. There is a link to enable people to lobby MPs to support this.
