Good Morning all
I have a question about funding. My Mum lives in rented sheltered housing and already gets attendant allowance(lower rate). At present she pays for her carers out of this benefit but we now need to increase her visits far more therefore I figured she will have to use her own money plus the AA. Mum does have some savings which would last her about a year maybe longer but a friend said she thought there was a personal care allowance and to get an assessment. Unless she means the AA? I have read so much over the years that I am not sure if this is correct or if so would she be entitled as she has some savings and a reasonable income, although that pays her rent etc. So to recap is there an assessment to see if you are entitled to financial support towards her carers?
Many thanks
Azay

In Scotland personal care such as washing and dressing is not means tested. Enquire in your area to see what their policy is.
