You may have heard that the Alzheimer’s Society is organising a parliamentary lobby on 16 March to highlight the fact that people with dementia are being charged for their healthcare. This discriminatory charging has to stop.

You are most welcome to join us on 16 March. For more details please go to the main page of the website at www.alzheimers.org.uk

In the meantime we also need your help and imagination to come up with slogans which people can use to put on banners and placards. A carer wrote to us suggesting the slogan ‘Remember those who forget’. We need more like this. Have you got any ideas which relate to people being charged for care?

Best wishes

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I actually have plenty of ideas and opinions about being charged for care..... unfortunately none of them are printable...!!!

However, I will certainly get my thinking cap on and see if I can come up with a few slogans for the campaign.

I'll also post a note on TP Support Forum to see if I can rally the troops to do likewise, as not everyone checks all the forums regularly.

Will get back to you asap.

Charging

Hello Andrew

Try these for size

IT ISN'T FAIR TO BE CHARGED FOR CARE.

WE SAVE THE STATE MILLIONS. YOU WON'T SPEND ONE.

THE LORD HELPS THOSE WHO HELP THEMSEVES. THIS GOVERNMENT CERTAINLY DOESN'T.

Cheers Barraf

Hi Andrew,

Here's a few, not very good I'm afraid:

I need help I'm on my knees
please don't charge us care fees..!

Mum's memory is poor
but I remember everything...

I'm a carer in distress,
Don't charge me fees
On top of this mess.

My mum is now the child
And the child is the carer...

Don't like to see my mum suffer
but I'm the one left with the memories..

Alzheimer's is growing inside her
and it wipes her memories away...

I'm a carer in distress
when will the government help me in this mess..
