My wife has vascular dementia and gets confused and doesn’t recognise me and thinks I am a younger version of myself and I have great difficulty in trying to convince her otherwise. I have done the usual leaving the room or house but obviously she is total convinced that the person in front of her is not me. Any other thoughts??

I'm sorry @boboroo76 but this is typical of the progression of Alzheimer's, sometimes the lack of recognition is intermittent. Some people have found that announcing themselves to their partner helps. If trying to convince her distresses her it is probably better to go along with what she believes - if you can establish that.
