non family member with dementia

hi

i have real concerns for a friend who has all the signs of dementia which have got much worse over the last year. he is in denial, his employer seems to turn a blind eye and his family do not accept there is a problem either. is there anything i can do as a non relative other than stand by and wait for someting drastic to happen? any advice much appreciated
