My mother is having very vivid nightmares, which are upsetting her.

Is there anything she could be prescribed which would help?

Hi moorcroft. My dad didn't have nightmares but he acted out his dreams and shouted out.Even when he was asleep in the chair he was on the move.He was put on quetiapine.Just half a very small tablet and he's a lot better. Its an anti psychotic which they don't like to prescribe and not suitable for everyone.I found watching tv was triggering what he dreamed of so veted what he watched .He was also hallucinating. This has also stopped .Dont know if it's due to the drugs.Im sure others will have some advice. TP is a great place if you have any questions. Best wishes

Just a thought.... Sometimes certain food eaten at night may cause nightmares. Also Tv programmes. I would talk to her doctor who may be able to prescribe something. Since my partner died I have awful nightmares but I think they are due to stress and subconscious feelings.

Sending you support,
