ive heard from various sources that if a PWD is awarded NHS Continuing Health Care that person can then be put somewhere they might not have chosen.

Is this correct?

Unfortunately yes.

As the NHS is now funding the person does not necessarily have any choice. If they can meet all the care needs identified during the Continuing Healthcare assessment process in a cheaper environment then they are fulfilling their obligation.

Unlike normal care funding or Sec 117 Aftercare Top Ups are not allowed either.

There is plenty of evidence that this legal requirement is being ignored or exceptions being liberally interpreted.

I have changed one word in your post @nitram (underlined and made it blue), which is the word I think you meant, however forgive me if you meant something different'.

I was just going to post similar myself, however did wonder if this was controversial and not to say anything?

Your correction is what I meant, I see you came back 5 minutes after posting to make the correction.

I did hear of a case where somebody was put in a place which was not convenient for the relatives to visit but it was a home which specialised in patients with serious behaviour problems and they did not have one of those on a convenient route.

A home was being considered for my step mother which was nearly 9 miles away. This would not have been a problem to me as I have a car but it can be nearly a 2 hour journey if you time your busses wrong.
