My husband is 54 and was diagnosed with dementia in May. We don't see memory services til next week where we hope to get a diagnostic to the types of dementia we are dealing with. He is also suffering bowel incontinence. Anybody in a similar situation that can offer help and advice, I would love to hear from you.

Incontinence does often come with dementia, but usually not until the more advanced stages. So tbh, I would get your husband checked to make sure there isn't some other reason for the incontinence. Strange as it may seem, chronic constipation is one of them.

As someone who has recently found themselves in the same situation, might I suggest you try contacting your local NHS Continence Advisory Service (I believe you can contact them direct rather than having to go through your doctor) and ask for an appointment with a Continence Clinical Nurse Specialist.
We found it very helpful ( and educational) and also allowed us to obtain incontinence products through the NHS, which will save £'s over the years to come.
