Do you have dementia and identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans?

Would you like to meet other LGBT people with dementia?

Are you a carer, partner or friend of an LGBT person with dementia?

A new LGBT dementia group and intergenerational support project is being
organised by the University of Worcester in partnership with LGBT
organisations in Birmingham (Birmingham LGBT Centre) and London (PACE
Health). The project is funded by the Dementia Engagement and
Empowerment Project (DEEP) Involvement fund, via Joseph Rowntree
Foundation and Comic Relief.

If you would like to be involved, or would like more information please go to www.dementiaproject.net/blog/?p=143 or PM me.

Best wishes, Liz

Financial support to attend

I should have mentioned that there is a small amount of financial support for people (including carer/partner/friend) to attend the group.

Please do get in touch with me if you would like further information, are potentially interesting in joining the group, or know someone who anyone who might be.

Many thanks, Liz

Help LGBT

I have shared my life with my partner Tom for 40 years. About 7 years ago my partner developed low level HAND or mild cognitive disorder.

More recently my partner exhibited more serious traits of dementia and after seeing two specialists we are still being pushed back and forth to get a definitive diagnosis. I have spent 18 months alone caring and coping (and experienced a psychotic episode myself, I think because of the stress and lack of support).

I wonder if there are any groups, studies or sources of help you could direct me to for LGBT people in my position. I'm in London but can travel.
