Hi everyone,

Just home after mum had her 2nd cataract op this morning. Maybe I was being naive, but I thought she would lie in bed and have a rest....she didn't seem to sleep much last night, I still heard her at 2.45am and we were up at 5.30. She had a general anesthetic .

She was awake from 4am on Monday, which meant I was too.

Is this just coincidence or is this lack of sleep another phase? Don't know if I can function on zero sleep, or anyone else in the house either.

She's going in for a weeks respite on Sunday and I'm counting the hours!!

It might just be that she is unsettled from having gone to hospital and will go back to normal soon. She isn't in any pain, is she? I don't think cataract operations are painful. It may be she is suffering from the effects of the anaesthetic but, like you say, I would have thought it would make her drowsy. My mother had her cataract operations pre-dementia so I don't have actual experience of this.
