If that's really all the space available then it might not be large enough. Mobility problems increase over time, and at some point your husband will need assisting. He may need room for a wheeled shower chair, grab bars by the toilet etc.
Have you had an OT assessment? Approach Social Services or ask your GP for an urgent referral. You may be eligible for assistance in getting your shower put in as a wet room. It may be possible to borrow some space to make the room bigger. OTs are familiar with quart into pint pot scenarios and may be able to suggest a plan and advise on LA grants. If you don't want to wait for grant-aided work (there can be delays in getting to the front of the queue) ask about specialist disability wet room installers. These will be known to the OT service as being companies that carry out the LA installation contracts.

I converted Mom's tiny ensuite (1.75m x 0.85m) that had a step up shower and a sink but no loo into a wet room, same shower unit, new smaller sink and small saniflo loo so the commode wheelchair could get in.
I never fitted the grab rails or the other finishing touches as she only used it for a few days before going into a NH.

All you can do in an area that size is make it a wet room I'd have thought. I'm assuming the door is on the 1.07 wall? If you could get a door in the middle of the 2.34 wall then you have the shower on one side and the loo on the other it all depends on the position of the door.
I think if you're doing a wetroom conversion or any special adaption then financial help is available but I've no idea if it's means tested or not.

Small wash basins can be found at almost any supplier high street or trade.
The toilet was from here and easier than a normal toilet to fit as there is no water tank.....

Dimensions are where it says "Illustrations and data sheet". I am 6'1" and 16 stone and I just fit.
A tad pricey at just over £400 but quieter than I though it would be. WARNING...It does not like anything other than paper and the "usual stuff" and if blocked cannot be used till fixed. It also does not work if there is a power cut.
I got someone in to do the flooring and walls as getting the floor in right is really important. The walls are just honeycomb type plastic sheets that go over the original tiles.
£2000 in all including an electrician so it was certified safe.

Glad to be of some help.
It was all a bit of rush to get it done as the hospital were pushing for my Mom to be discharged but in hindsight I would now be tempted to move the toilet to be also at the shower end . The wheeled commode chair or a foldable bench seat would have fitted above and then create more space for drying/dressing where the toilet is now.
