Mum with AD currently is fixated with how old everyone is, especially Dad?
He is 78 this year.
She tells all and sundry how Dad is nearly 80! and thinks its funny.

She mentions it every day, if not several times a day, if not several times in the space of a few minutes.
She asks me " Did you know your Dad is nearly 80"
"Yes Mum, did you know I am nearly 50"
"No your not 50 soon are you" :)

I then change the subject which usually works for a while.

Poor Dad is getting mightily fed up, and gets into arguments over it as he doesn't think to change the subject. I suppose most of us don't like being reminded of our advancing years

I think the problem is that whatever they fixate on endlessly makes the carers life so difficult and stressed!

I hope this phase passes soon.

Mum thought she was 40. I've told her I was older than that so she decided I must have been in the year above her at school but I was still her daughter. She now thinks she is 110 and tells anyone who listens.
