I am looking for some advice, my mother has been diagnosed with having a form of dementia. she has been show signs for years by having short term memory loss but unfortunately my father passed away a few months ago and she is getting worse.

She has carers go in 3 times a day to help get her meals, but she is incredibly lonely, and needs to get some help, she doesn't want to live by herself, although she has a big house it is not possible for my sister or myself to move in with her, and we don't have room for her to move into one of our houses.

I find it very difficult to go and spend time with her because she get violent towards me.

What can we do to help her.

There are agencies who do befriending services, I would call your mum's local Social Services and ask them to signpost you to befriending services that are available in your mum's area.

I have a befriender from an organisation called Crossroads who comes to visit my mum for a couple of hours a week. Might be worth finding out if they are in your area.
