I am a new member and have found reading other peoples experiences very helpful.

My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimers 7 years ago and was prescribed Aricept which seems to have worked very well for him. However a couple of months ago he started getting hallucinations and his specialist suggested changing his prescription to 'Nemdatine', and is on a 3 months trial. We are now 6 weeks into the trail and I can't as yet see an improvement, in fact I think my husbands condition has worsened slightly but then that might have happened anyway. Any feedback much appreciated

Hi Muscat,

Welcome to TP.

I'm sorry I don't have the info you need, but I'm boosting this post to the top so someone else can see it and hopefully give you an answer.

Nemdatine is a brand of memantine.

My experience was that memantine combined with sodium valproate had a significant calming effect when the dosage was fully titrated to 2X10mg/day at start of week four.

If you are concerned report back to the prescriber before the end of the three months.

Hello Muscat . Welcome to TP.
I never heard of Nemdatine before so I looked it up, it seems it's
Memantine (ebixa)

My mum was on Memantine , it worked very well for her and quickly too , but like all medications meant for AD they do not work for everyone. I suggest you contact the specialist as soon asossible rather than waiting till the end of the trial period.
