A more positive post today :)

After our horrendous weekend, mum seems to be finally settling into her new home. She still is sad at times but is socialising more, laughing more and even sang on the Karaoke this pm.! She hasn't asked to go home for a couple of days now :) We are now visiting in our normal routine and usual evenings and I'm happy to say that friends are really supporting us by visiting her too.

She will have been in for a week tomorrow so we are still in early days.. but I thought I'd post a happy post for a change :)

Your support has been fantastic. TP is BRILLIANT

Thank you!

And it continues... one week today and mum actually said to my eldest sis that she likes it there!! Tonight she said ' Haven't I made my room lovely?' which was amazing because a) it was a happy positive comment and b) it was the longest independant sentence she's said to me in AGES!

She was sitting in the lounge when I arrived, talking to a lady next to her. They were all listening to music. They fussed over my girls and mum just hugged them soooo proudly and smiling all the time

Thanks again for your interest in my story!

Karen

So pleased for you Karen .... long may it continue. My aunt has just gone into a nursing home and she's very happy about it. She's not got dementia, just very elderly and not coping great living on her own. She's lots more relaxed and happy because it's taken away all the worries and obstacles to daily life that she was having to struggle over every day. Perhaps something similar for mum .... being cared for and around people might be just what she needed.
