Hi All

I haven't posted much recently, but thought I'd let you all know that after more than 3 years in the Care Home, Mum is actually venturing outof her bedroom into the lounge, and has even started participating in the events.

This is a huge step for her and even though she is steadily delining in what she can do (or can't do) I'm so relieved that she's not just sat in her room all day on her own.

Yes, she has started carrying her toothbrush around with her shoved up her sleeve  together with the toothpaste rolled up and shoved down her tights , but at least she's socialising a bit, and that counts for a lot.

So for anyone else out there whose loved one has not settled into a home, take heart - it may take some time, but its wonderful when it does.

That's great news Libby, imagine, after all this time, I bet you are surprised as well as pleased. I can't help but smile at the toothpaste & toothbrush. At least she knows they won't be stolen. :D

Hi Libby

I haven't followed your past posts, but it sounds like you have had a lot of worry over mum settling in, and it is at last coming out okay. I am so delighted for you.

My mum didn't settle for a while, well, she's been there 10 months now, and although she is out of her room all day, she doesn't ask anybody's name and doesn't talk to anybody. But I went last week and she introduced me to three ladies by name. I was delighted!

Small steps forward, eh? Keep us posted.

Much love

Margaret
