Hello,
My mum has gone really downhill in the last few months and my dad is really struggling.
Me and my sister work full time so help when we can but think they need some more permanent help but dad doesn’t really want to accept it. We don’t really know how else to help?
Any advice would be great
Thankyou

Have you considered day care for a few days a week, even one day would help your dad?

Sorry to hear about this. Can you get a care agency or the social services to do an assessment of their needs to make a recommendation?

Hi @smobbsy It’s very hard to get a wife/husband to accept help. Been there....

I was told it takes a crisis and that has been the case for us. He accepted different levels of help with each crisis.

I sowed seeds and ideas...I researched options ready to pounce and when the crisis came I put things in place fait complis....and they were happily accepted. It was little by little, never enough....but got us through.

Don’t prop up too much either. If you provide the help they won’t feel the need for any.
