Hi my mom has dementia and is still looking after herself in her own home but she keeps loosing her house keys we are in the process of getting her locks changed so that she only has on key for both doors has anyone got any suggestions which keys will be appropriate. Thanks for any advice.

You could specify a thumbturn on the inside which prevents a key being left in on the inside which prevents the use of a key on the outside. If you do this check with your insurers as some will not accept keyless exit which allows the door to be opened to remove large articles after gaining entry through a small opening, how many of you actually lock your doors on the inside even if the facility exists?

On advice I had a key safe mounted discreetly outside the front door so that in an emergency or if keys get lost then there is a spare set available. It has turned out to be a great idea for visiting family too if John doesn't hear them at the door.
When mum was at home we had a key safe, keyfinders and left keys with good neighbours. Oh and had locksmith on speed dial!
