moms being moved in her home

hi,long time since i posted her,thought it was all sorted ,guess i was wrong !,as with the most of people here mom is funding her care,lucky i guess at the price,things could be changing,they told me today that mom is moveing to the nursing part of the building as her health problems outweigh her mental ones. i dont have a problem with this,but does it change our glorious health service opionion of charges,should i challenge this? & should they fund it ?early days yet, i was only told today,nothing official yet,any comments ?

Whether someone is in residential OR nursing care, they may be eligible for NHS continuing care. However, no one is going to offer it unless you ask, so you absolutely should consider applying.

thanks jennifer,i will have to look at it when i get offical confermation,but as we all know it is a minefield,i only hope i can get under it

Forget about the “nursing care” bit – the main thing you need to do is to ask the PCT (Primary Care Trust) to carry out an assessment for fully funded NHS Continuing Healthcare, because that is what someone in your Mum’s situation needs.

If your Mum has a primary health need, or even more than one primary health need, then she must qualify for NHS Continuing Care. Fully funded by the NHS.

And, Dave, make sure you are fully involved in each and every assessment that takes place – otherwise, you may not be kept fully informed.
