My mother is 68, she has Alzheimer's and she has consistently been making a noise that sounds like vroom vroom (like a child imitating a race car). Is this considered normal with Alzheimer's? Is she trying to communicate something? Is the noise reassuring to her?

My dad was blowing raspberries yesterday at my husband it was funny but sad to as he would not normal be like that. I think it is all part of the illness. I would rather have my dad like that than last week he was nasty lashing out at me. We just joined in & blew raspberries back he just laughed.

Non-verbal vocalisation is often used by someone with dementia as a self soothing mechanism, especially in the more advanced stages. If she is not distressed I would just ignore it.
