Hi everybody,
My husband has come home today from a weeks respite care and while there his consultant has prescribed Promazine. The first dosage was far too strong and he was asleep all the time, it was then cut to 25mg twice a day.
I wondered if anyone has had knowlege of this drug and how they felt about it.
I don't feel he needs anything when at home but he sometimes gives trouble at the day-care and when in respite. I think it really boils down to personal dignity. I am going to try to get in touch with his consultant tomorrow and ask if they are something he has to take everyday. the last thing I want is him being zombie-like.

Thanks Nada,
I've just read the two fact sheets you recommend. Like I said, I wasn't asked first if I agreed to the medication and have been trying to reach the specialist today with no success. I've informed the day care that I don't agree that my husband needs these tablets at home but I'm frightened of them saying they can't cope. I need the days off just to do my everyday living. Here's hoping I can reach the doctor.
