Hello,

I've recently been given an instruction by Court of Protection (with relevant paperwork and seal in bottom right hand seal to evidence authenticity) to investigate and report to COP on my mother in law's assets, liabililites and property. I have to report by the end of the month.

I'm struggling with dealing the banks (TSB and Halifax) as they seem unable to help or have clear transparent processes with which to gain information.

I suspect my mother in law's pensions (DWP and Local Authority) have been frozen and I'm looking for the mosr effective way / process of finding if this is the case.

I'm happy to take a day off work and vist offices - I'd welcome any suggestions / comments on how best to approach. In particular:
Is there any process the DWP use?
Do they have a specific telephone number?
Can I just walk into a DWP office, show identification and get the information?
Do they have a central specialised office that deals with these matters?
Any thoughts / experience on dealing with Local Authorities?

thanks in advance for members advice - Buxtonlover
