Hi, does ANYBODY know a live in care company that can provide carers with experience and training in dementia. With carers that don’t leave when the going gets tough when they have little or no support from their company. When the websites say how experienced their carers are in dementia, when they obviously aren’t? What are people’s experiences generally?? Please help.

Unfortunately my experience with 2 different agencies and their carers were exactly as you describe.

I had a very good experience with my mother's care agency. They looked after her for 18 months, the care director was a dementia specialist and was very good at matching carers with clients. They were genuinely fond of my mother and kept in touch after she moved to a care home, I couldn't have asked for more.

Having said that, my mother was fairly amenable and I was told she was got on well with the carers. It may be more difficult to get carers to stay if the PWD is more challenging.
