How to reach older LGBT communities across London - An Age Concern Conference - Friday March 5th
Over 100 delegates attended this conference at the Camden Centre. Chaired by Baroness Barker, there were talks about the needs of older LGBTs and reference made to the co-operation between Age Concern and the Alzheimers LGBT Support Group.The Age Concern Older LGBT Camden Group have begun to organise a buddy scheme for those isolated or having health problems, including those with dementia.

Project on meeting the needs of older LGBT people in care homes
Age Concern Oxfordshire have appointed Tung Suen a doctoral student at the University of Oxford to work on a project entitled 'Rainbow Homes'. The project is funded by the Mental Health Foundation and the 'Home Improvements' Scheme and is being operated in conjunction with the St. John's Trust which is now in charge of most care homes in Oxfordshire. At the start two care homes have been chosen as a focus for the project.

American Society on Aging Conference Chicago March 16th
There will be a workshop at this prestigious conference focussing on the needs of LGBT people with dementia. The workshop will have the title 'Gay or Straight Dementia Does Not Discriminate' and the work of our Alzheimers Society LGBT Support Group will be presented as an example for other groups working in this field. Delegates will also receive some of the literature produced by our Society.
