Good article but I think this bit is inaccurate

Lauren Booth said:
I looked into the entitlement to benefits for full-time family carers. For this costly, monumental and stressful task, the Department of Work and Pensions offers an "attendance allowance" to family carers of just £95 per week.

As far as I know, Attendance Allowance is paid to the person with the medical problem, not to their carers. It is up to the recipient how they spend that money. It would have been better if she had put the figures for Carers Allowance down, as that is much less than £95 per week!

Attendance Allowance is nowhere near £95 per week. Where does she get that figure from?
My husband receives the highest rate of Attendance Allowance, which is £258 for 4 weeks, or £64.50p per week.
Is there something I do not know?

Yes, I spotted that too. Also the emotive headline 'Modern Bedlam'.

I also wondered where Cherie was in all this?

I don't think the grandfather would have been any relative to Cherie. I think it is Lauren's mother's father and Lauren and Cherie have different mothers.
