Mum was admitted to a care home in late 2011 following a stay in hospital. On Christmas Eve 2015 I received notification that the local authority want me to provide details of her finances so that they can assess her ability to pay for her care. It would now appear that she should have been paying for her care all along. I had been under the impression that because she was admitted direct from hospital that her care was NHS funded. No assessments were ever done although the l.a. has carried out annual reviews each year. She previously lived with support in her own flat. The flat was purchased in 1999 and I paid 25 percent of the purchase price. I had a deed of trust drawn up at the time and hold enduring power of attorney. Has anyone experienced anything like this before or can recommend a reputable legal firm with experience in this area?
