£506 pw for dementia care here, slightly higher than I thought but still unrealistically low. My mother pays £800 which is one of the lowest rates for private clients in the area.

I find these figures don't match with the figures I was quoted when looking round around 10 care homes last year. The lowest figure was £795 pw (for a pokey room in a depressing place) and only one other for less than £1000pw. The average was £1200 with posh homes way more than that. How are the average figures quoted in these reports so much lower?

They are what the LA will usually pay, which is lower than the figure given to self funders.

Don't know of one with any detail.
There are a few that give averages for areas which are useless owing to the vast variation in what individual homes charge both as a basic self funding rate and additions depending on their assessment of the person's needs.
