As if life wasn't complicated enough... I've now been summonned for Jury Service in April. April is totally out of the question from a work point of view. If I ask for deferral, I need to give dates when I will be available. How can I do that with crises like the one we've just had? Does anyone know if being a carer qualifies for excusal? Any advice welcome

Just had a thought. I've been on the same electoral register for 30 years and never been drawn for Jury Service. Maybe this is my lucky year. I might win the lottery as well.:D

That's very funny.....

But I think the odds of being called for Jury service are far in excess of those of winning the lottery. Still I hope you numbers come up.

I've today received confirmation that I'm excused. Thank you all for your advice. I just filled in the reply form and enclosed a letter explaining about my caring role (without further supporting documentation from GP etc).
